Mandrels manufacturing

The mandrel is used to fasten and protect the measuring equipment in the tubing. As the mandrel is an integral part of the oil-well tubing, it can be manufactured with different parameters depending on the specific operating conditions.

We have already manufactured and supplied more than 200 mandrels of various designs and sizes. Often our clients have an urgent need to supply a missing part or product, without which an important start-up time on site might be missed. In such cases, they contact us, as a small, dynamic company that can quickly design and manufacture custom-designed mandrels.

We were approached by a company to manufacture such a mandrel. Two cables had to be routed along the mandrel to lower the measurement equipment down the tubing. For this purpose, our engineers provided two slots that ensured the integrity of the cable when the mandrel would be lowered into the oil-well. This required changing the attachment location of the temperature and pressure sensors so that the entire sensor and a portion of the cable could fit inside the mandrel.
The entire process of calculations, development of design documentation and production technology took three months. Most of the time was spent on the purchase of special tools for groove milling and the supply of AISI 4145H bar.
Our engineers made strength calculations and selected material according to the customer's requirements in accordance with the grade of GOST R 53366-2009 (ISO 11960:2004) and hydrogen sulphide content in the oil-well.

They also calculated the loads to ensure the mandrel serviceability within the whole service life (up to 15 years).

As a result, we rapidly produced the required mandrel. This made it possible to successfully continue the development of the oil-well without breaking the deadline.
